Jason, a teacher by profession, has always been drawn to the world of games. He began his gaming journey playing board games with family at a young age. A fun fact about Jason? He has played every disc golf course in the state of Rhode Island—a testament to his love for outdoor activities and commitment to mastering a challenge.
Gaming Interests
Jason’s gaming tastes are as diverse as his interests. He has a particular fondness for social deduction games, co-op games, and games that are easy to learn but offer deep strategy. His all-time favorite game is PARKS, which he loves for its stunning artwork, engaging game mechanics, and the way it taps into his love of the outdoors. Currently, you can find him playing games like Ticket to Ride, COUP, Herstory, Just One, and Cat Lady. He’s a fan of game designers and publishers such as Underdog Games, AEG, Keymaster Games, and even fellow Banditos member Dave Eng.
Involvement with Banditos Gaming
Jason first discovered Banditos Gaming at its very first game night, which was held at his school, St. Thomas Aquinas College. He immediately became hooked on the weekly gatherings. For Jason, the social aspect of Banditos Gaming is the most rewarding part—meeting up with friends who share his passion for games and discovering new games together each week.
One of Jason’s most memorable experiences with Banditos Gaming is witnessing the group's growth from a summer college event to a thriving community of lifelong friends. He treasures the sense of community and the friendships he has formed, noting that many of his closest friends are part of the group. For Jason, game nights are a highlight of his week, offering a fun and engaging break from daily life. His favorite event? The Weekly Wednesday Game Nights.
Community and Learning
Jason believes that games are a powerful tool for community development. They bring people together, helping them bond over shared interests and encouraging teamwork. He has found that playing a wide variety of games has helped him develop valuable skills, such as making quick decisions by weighing the benefits and risks of each move. His advice to newcomers in the gaming community? “Don't be afraid to jump in and try new games! Games are more of a social event than anything else, and most of us are learning as we go.”
Beyond Gaming
Outside of gaming, Jason loves to spend time in the outdoors and enjoys activities like disc golf, painting, and playing sports. He is also a music lover, a fan of the TV show Survivor, and enjoys spending time with his cats. When it comes to his aspirations, Jason simply aims to continue exploring new games and enjoying the camaraderie they bring.
