Her favorite quote, "Be fun and try!" by Chappell Roan, perfectly encapsulates her approach to life and gaming. A fun fact about Lindsey? She can solve a Rubik's cube in under three minutes! While it might not be record-breaking, it's certainly impressive and speaks to her analytical mind and love for challenges.
Gaming Interests
Lindsey's love for gaming started at an early age, with a closet full of board games that provided countless hours of entertainment and family bonding. Classics like the Disney version of Sorry, the Monsters Inc. edition of the Game of Life, and Pretty Pretty Princess hold a special place in her heart. Her grandparents' love for card games further deepened her passion, making her the go-to person for bringing out games at any social gathering.
When it comes to gaming preferences, Lindsey is all about board games and card games. Her all-time favorite is Rummikub, a game she cherishes for its simplicity and strategic depth. Currently, she's playing games like Tiny Towns, Cat Lady, Calico, Ticket to Ride, and Splendor. Lindsey also has a soft spot for AEG, the publisher behind many of her favorite games.
Involvement with Banditos Gaming
Lindsey's journey with Banditos Gaming began at St. Thomas Aquinas College (STAC), where a group of friends, including her, was recruited by the group's founder, Dave Eng. Their love for games quickly solidified their bond, and when Banditos Gaming became an official group, Lindsey couldn't wait to join and have a regular place to play games.
For Lindsey, the most rewarding aspect of being part of Banditos Gaming is the safe and welcoming environment it provides. She cherishes the sense of community and the opportunity to connect with both old and new friends. One of her favorite memories is when a fellow member, Fred, gifted her his copy of Tiny Towns after realizing how much she loved the game. It's gestures like these that highlight the generosity and thoughtfulness of the Banditos Gaming community.
Impact and Favorites
Banditos Gaming has become an integral part of Lindsey's life, providing her with a consistent source of joy and camaraderie. She's also discovered a newfound appreciation for Panera, thanks to her frequent gaming sessions. Her favorite Banditos event? Weekly Wednesday Game Night, which offers a much-needed break from the workweek and something to look forward to.
Community and Learning
Lindsey believes that games are more than just fun; they're a powerful tool for fostering community development. By bringing together individuals from diverse backgrounds, games encourage social interaction, collaboration, and a sense of belonging. One valuable lesson Lindsey has learned through gaming is the importance of patience, especially when tackling new games and mastering their rules. Her advice to newcomers in the gaming community is simple: "Be patient with yourself and don't be afraid to try new things!"
Beyond Gaming
Outside of gaming, Lindsey enjoys jigsaw puzzles and watching competitive reality TV shows. She also has a soft spot for cats, making her life even more colorful and playful.
"Winsey!" is not just a member of Banditos Gaming; she's a vital part of the community that makes it so special. Her story is a testament to the power of games in bringing people together, creating lasting memories, and building a strong, inclusive community.
